The HTC One A9 ($499; 32GB) is among the few new Android phones that are small enough for single-handed use, but don’t fall into the budget category. It’s a 5-inch handset in a market that’s racing toward hand-straining 6-plus-inch phablets. With an attractive design that resembles the Apple iPhone 6s, the A9 runs a recent version of Android and has good battery life. On the other hand, it’s held back by a lackluster camera and a high price given its midrange specs. For a better combination of looks and performance in a 5-inch form factor, the Samsung Galaxy S6 remains our Editors’ Choice on Sprint.
