Their report indicates that Apple will also reveal the iPhone 4.0 software, as well as a new iLife 2010 application suite. Not present at this event would be the next generation iPhone hardware, which is generally revealed in May or June.Mashable

HTC is producing a tablet to battle the forthcoming Apple Tablet, according to Australian publication Smarthouse:

HTC, who have been working closely with Google for the past 18 months have several working models of a touch tablet including one model, is based on the new Google Chrome Operating System say sources.

An Android based device which is set to be shown privately to core HTC customers at the CES Show is set to incorporate new Qualcomm processors, touch technology and new software from Adobe.

We’re sure magazine publishers will be happy about the Adobe software, since they’ve built prototypes of tablet versions of their magazines using Adobe Air. HTC is also working with Google on its Nexus One phone which should be coming out early next week.

Among the vendors who are working on a touch tablet PC is HTC, which is confident it has a product that will compete head-on with the Appleoffering.

This is the same company that is set to partner with Google, and which is tipped to be launching a brand new smartphone called the Nexus One on the 5th of January 2010.

Google has sent out invites this week for an “Android press gathering” at its US headquarters. However, it has declined to give any specifics on the forthcoming announcement. There is no news on whether the phone will launch in Australia at the same time as the US.

HTC, which been working closely with Google for the past 18 months, has several working models of a touch tablet, including one model based on the new Google Chrome Operating System, say sources.

An Android-based device that is set to be shown privately to core HTC customers at the CES Show is set to incorporate new Qualcomm processors, touch technology and new software from Adobe.

Google developed the Android operating system for mobile phone operators, with several, including HTC, Motorola and Samsung, now rolling out new models.

The Nexus One—a reference to the film Blade Runner—will run the Android operating software in a handset developed by HTC. Photos of the Nexus One have since circulated the internet, with even a YouTube video emerging, which had a detailed look at the new device’s interface.

Apple’s tablet plans are accelerating toward a March/April launch, according to reports crossing the wire this morning. Citing checks, Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner this morning informed clients that Apple is going to begin production of the not-yet announced device in February, which implies launch in late March or April.

Marketwatch has the following snippets from Reiner’s report:

10.1-inch display

Multi-touch LCD screen

Not OLED screen, contrary to some reports.

Apple is also alleged to be offering book publishers favourable terms for distribution of their titles through the device, essentially offering them 70 percent of the take, while Apple seizes 30 percent. (That’s the iTunes App Store equation).

The analyst estimates 1-1.5 million sales of the device, but adds an “average sale price of $1,000 and a 22% margin”.
