Google Goggles is a form of visual search. Using the new tool on an Android-powered mobile, people can search by taking a photo of something (such as a book, landmark, bottle of wine, logo, or store), instead of typing the word they’re trying to look up, and Google will instantly return information on that object: the flavors and notes of that bottle of wine, or reviews for that book you’re holding.

I wish the iPhone had the same capability, but I guess I am just going to have to hold out on that. The Android powered mobile phone seems to be getting some really cool apps from Google. I do not know if that is enough for me to jump ship just yet. I will wait and see what Apple will do in 2010.

Follow Google’s search event live on Twitter with the hashtag #googlesearch. Google’s announced that they’ve inked partnerships with both Facebook and MySpace to pull in data in real-time. For Facebook, that means public Facebook Pages, and for MySpace, it means any stream data that is publicly available.
